Classes and WorkshopsYoga (all levels): Flow and breathe deeply through a series of postures and breathing techniques respecting your body/breath as you release tension, calm and focus the mind. Day classes rejuvenate and explore energy; Evening classes explore relaxation techniques each night of the series. You leave feeling refreshed and focused. Prenatal Yoga (all levels): The practices are designed to promote better sleep, alleviate low back pain, safe strengthening and stretching, flexibility, circulation, balance and the mind-body-spirit connection for expecting Mothers and babies. A lovely place to meet new friends and share tips during your pregnancy. Yoga for Seniors (beginners): A safe program for those who do not know where or how to begin and have always wanted to try Yoga. The practices in this class are designed to promote postural alignment, balance, safe and effective stretching, build community, and learn yoga philosophy. We sometimes chant and end with meditation. Yoga for Healing (all levels): There are many circumstances in life that cause us to step back and reflect on our purpose as we face recovery and recuperation from grief, health challenges, injury etc. This class is for people living with, through and beyond these life challenges and who are interested in exploring yoga as a means to connect with their hearts in the healing process. We will explore breathing techniques to calm the mind, deepen breath and provide an inner focus. Relaxation, meditation, or visualization techniques are taught to aid in self-healing while calming the body, mind and spirit. Yoga helps ease discomfort, gives you more energy, calms your mind, and empowers you to accept, love and motivate yourself to regain your energy, and connect with your inner wisdom and heart’s desire. Yoga as Therapy Group Class (all levels): A group class for folks who are interested in exploring yoga as a means to connect with their hearts in the healing process and the discovery/recovery process. Emphasis is on the exploration of breathing techniques as a means to connect and listen to our inner wisdom, using gentle restorative yoga positions to relax and rejuvenate, accepting where we are now, learning/knowing that during the transitional healing process “less is more”. Yoga for Chronic Low Back Pain (all levels): In this class you learn tools and skills to alleviate common problems associated with low back pain, emphasizing the use of breath in coordination with movement, safety and working with your individual needs. The protocol that is taught is from an NIH study which is described in the article “Comparing Yoga, Exercise and a Self-Care Book for Chronic Low Back Pain” published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, 2005.
