Ayurveda - means life (ayur) knowledge (veda)

Ayurveda is a holistic mind-body-consciousness medicine. Education plays a key role in acquiring the skills for self-care (how to live in harmony with our own true nature) through self-knowledge (the highest form of knowledge).

The aim of Ayurvedic counseling is to help people optimize their natural healing abilities.

We do this through Dosha detemination, nutritional/lifestyle changes, exercise (yoga, walking etc.) and meditation.

An Ayurvedic consultation includes: Dosha determination, the first Nutritional/Lifestyle Consultation, and one follow-up Nutritional/Lifestyle Consultation.

The following text is under construction/changes!!!

Life Stages

Yoga suggests there are three stages to life, while Ayurveda suggests there are five stages to life.

Sunrise Stage

The first is from birth to approximately mid-twenties. As children, our Yoga practice should support the balanced growth and development of body and mind, so āsana is the main focus. As we enter early adulthood, we are continuing our education, beginning our careers, possibly starting families or starting a household independent of our home of origin, so āsana is important to maintain physical strength for these endeavors and life choices that launch us into the world.

Midday Stage

Midday is from approximately mid-twenties to seventy. As adults, our practice should protect health and promote the ability to be productive in the world, so prāņāyāma and āsana are the main focuses. See also...

Sunset stage

The third stage is life beyond the seventies. As seniors, our practice should help us maintain health and inspire a deeper quest for self-realization, so meditation and a connection to our faith are the main focuses. See also:

Of course, many of us practice, and maintain in our practice throughout our life, all of the above mentioned yogic tools: āsana, prāņāyāma, meditation and a connection to our faith. In yoga, there are focuses depending on life stages, interests and other endeavors that keep us active, healthy contributors to our families, communities, employers and the society we live in.
